Fina Ferrara, a performance artist born and currently based in Monterrey, Mexico, began her artistic journey at the age of 10 as a classical ballet dancer. These formative years instilled in her a profound discipline, heightened body awareness, and a meticulous attention to detail—values she carried forward into her artistic evolution. Ballet taught her to focus on the subtlety of expression, from the alignment of her fingertips to the intention behind her gaze. Yet, as she transitioned into the professional realm of dance, Fina realized her creativity extended beyond the structured boundaries of classical ballet. This realization ignited her exploration into contemporary dance and acting as new forms of expression.
In her early twenties, Fina’s artistic curiosity expanded further as she began visualizing everyday movements synchronized with music, imagining choreographed moments that transcended traditional dance. This creative curiosity introduced her to video production, which has since become a core element of her work. Her artistic perspective underwent another transformation during her time in Spain, where she discovered the power of improvisation and a deep desire to break free from the constraints of conventional stages. These experiences guided her toward performance art, a discipline that allows her to connect with audiences dynamically, shaping her performances based on their energy and the surrounding environment.
