Born in Oulu, Northern Finland in 1961, Liisa Viima’s creative journey began in childhood, with an early passion for painting that was set aside for nearly five decades. Though her young dreams of becoming a professional painter were once abandoned, a profound inner calling reignited her artistic spirit in 2020. Today, she lives and works in Espoo, Southern Finland, where her rediscovered purpose as an artist has become a driving force in her life. Her work, deeply spiritual and emotionally resonant, is rooted in personal transformation and healing.
Viima’s creative process is intuitive and spiritually driven. Ideas emerge continuously in her mind, urging her toward the canvas. She begins each piece by laying down a foundation of acrylic paint, breaking the blank surface before moving into rich, layered applications of oil. Her technical method includes multiple layers—often two to five—that incorporate gypsum, stencils, mica pigments, and resin. The artist sees her process as a sacred dialogue, a divine gift she feels compelled to honour through every brushstroke.
