Sabrina Puppin’s artistic journey is a testament to her lifelong passion for art, deeply rooted in her comprehensive educational background, including a Ph.D., MFA, MA, BA, and Painting Diploma. Her Italian heritage and current residency in New York City and Doha, Qatar, shape her unique creative perspective. Puppin’s dedication to her craft is evident in her transition from museum management and art teaching to full-time artistic creation about a decade ago, coinciding with her move to New York. This marked a significant pivot in her career, dedicating herself wholly to the exploration and promotion of her art.

Puppin’s creative process is a complex interplay between structure and surface, rationality and expressionism. She embarks on her artistic endeavors with a blank canvas, inviting vibrant, abstract, and fluid compositions to emerge, emphasizing the visual potency of color. Puppin’s technique, though appearing spontaneous, involves meticulous application of media using small droppers, considering various factors like drying time and color interaction. This laborious and physically demanding process, coupled with an element of chance, keeps her relationship with her work continually refreshing and invigorating.

Her body of work stands as a negotiation between the analytical and the expressive, stripping reality down to its essence and inviting viewers to a world of distorted perceptions. Puppin’s art, devoid of explicit depictions, leans heavily on the abstract, urging audiences to delve into their interpretations and connections. This abstraction and emphasis on color’s emotive power reflect her deep engagement with the intrinsic qualities of her chosen media and the dynamic process of creation itself.

Sabrina Puppin’s artwork serves as a bridge between the seen and the unseen, the known and the unknown. Her creations invite viewers into a realm where the ordinary constraints of perception are transcended, offering a space for personal exploration and introspection. Through her vibrant use of color and dynamic compositions, Puppin crafts visual narratives that resonate with the fluidity of thought and vision, challenging viewers to engage with her work on a profoundly personal level.

The themes running through Puppin’s art are reflections of her philosophical musings on reality and perception. Her work is not just a visual experience but an invitation to explore the interplay between what is perceived and what is conceived in the mind’s eye. By removing representational elements and focusing on color and form, Puppin encourages a sensory experience that is open to interpretation, allowing the viewer to imbue the work with their own meanings and emotions.

In her exhibitions, Puppin’s art takes center stage, creating immersive environments that encapsulate her artistic vision. Her solo and group exhibitions across various prestigious venues worldwide have not only showcased her talent but also her ability to communicate complex concepts through her art. Each piece is a testament to her mastery over her medium, her understanding of color theory, and her ability to engage with her audience on a visceral level, making her works not only visually striking but also intellectually stimulating.

In my artistic journey, I find myself constantly walking the line between reality and perception, the tangible and the intangible. My work is an exploration, a form of communication where I attempt to convey the fluid and often elusive nature of our perception of the world. I believe that art has the power to transform, to alter one’s understanding of reality, and to offer a new lens through which we can view our surroundings. My pieces are invitations to the viewer to step into a world where the boundaries of perception are blurred, where the familiar becomes unfamiliar, and where the act of seeing transcends the mere act of looking.

Creating art for me is not a choice but a necessity, an intrinsic urge that emanates from the core of my being. It is how I make sense of the world, how I express my thoughts and emotions, and how I connect with others. My work is a dialogue with the viewer, a shared experience where the artwork serves as a medium through which we can explore the depths of our consciousness and the nuances of our existence. Through my art, I aim to create a space where viewers can lose themselves, find themselves, and ultimately, see the world through a different lens.

The philosophy behind my artwork is deeply rooted in my perception of reality and the ways in which we interact with our environment. I am fascinated by the idea that our understanding of the world is shaped by our sensory experiences and that through art, we can challenge and expand these perceptions. My pieces are an expression of this fascination, a manifestation of my desire to explore the unseen, to delve into the unknown, and to bring forth a new understanding of the world around us.
